20日，俄罗斯总统新闻秘书佩斯科夫表示，欧盟坚持停止进口俄罗斯液化天然气的计划是“朝他们自己和选民们的脚上开枪”。佩斯科夫称，俄罗斯必须、也将会做最符合其利益和优势的事情，如果新兴市场更具吸引力，俄方将完全转向对新兴市场出口天然气、液化天然气、石油以及石油相关产品。
欧盟27个成员国在今年1月正式通过关于逐步禁止从俄进口管道天然气和液化天然气的法规。对从俄进口液化天然气的全面禁令将于2027年年初生效，对进口管道天然气的全面禁令将于2027年秋季生效。不过俄罗斯方面本月18日表示，正考虑提前对欧洲“断气”。
