More of the Same is Good for Chewy in 2026 -- Market Talk

1230 ET - Chewy operates in a uniquely attractive industry marked by increasing pet humanization, premium product adoption and expanding lifetime value per household, CEO Sumit Singh says on a call with analysts. "Spending in this category is driven by an emotional attachment and recurring non-discretionary needs, which translates into resilient demand across economic cycles," he adds. Dynamics across the industry this year are expected to largely mirror 2025, a year in which Chewy grew sales, expanded margins and scooped up market share, Singh says. He expects this year to be no different, as the company stands to continue benefiting from increasing customer engagement and private brand expansion. Chewy surges 13%. (connor.hart@wsj.com)
