Roblox (RBLX) said Wednesday it will implement new controls on content and communication for users aged below 16 years in Indonesia to address regional requirements.
In a statement sent to MT Newswires, Matt Kaufman, Roblox chief safety officer said, "As a global platform, we are committed to respecting the regional requirements of the countries in which we operate. This commitment is a core part of our long-term strategy to maintain a presence in nearly every country, allowing users all around the world to play and have fun and creators to reach the widest possible audience."
The move follows a recent ministerial regulation requiring gaming platforms to deactivate "high risk" social media accounts for users under 16, with enforcement set to begin from Saturday, according to a Reuters report.
Roblox shares were up 1.7% in Wednesday trading.
