0700 GMT - China Telecom earnings face a bleak outlook, says Morningstar's Dan Baker in a note. The company's increased expenses dragged its 2025 Ebitda and net profit lower despite a flattish revenue, he notes. Industrial digitization, which used to be the Chinese telecommunications operator's growth engine, showed a small top line decline, which appears worrying, he adds. A 3.0% value-added tax increase is poised to come into effect soon. This is likely to weigh on China Telecom's earnings, the analyst notes, adding that he expects the company's net profit to fall 9.0% in 2026 and cuts his near-term earnings projections by 15%-20%. Morningstar lowers its fair-value estimate by 15% to HK$5.80. Shares fall 0.4% to HK$4.89. (megan.cheah@wsj.com)
