TechTarget's (TTGT) Omdia unit said Thursday that Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) YouTube is expected to have nearly 3 billion monthly active users by the 2027, while Netflix (NFLX) is expected to reach more than 1 billion.

Maria Rua Aguete, head of media & entertainment at Omdia, told a conference that Netflix and YouTube are the leading first-choice options for video services in France, ahead of traditional broadcasters and pay TV, with Netflix leading the market at 18%, followed by YouTube at 12%.

In the UK, Netflix, Sky, and YouTube rank as the leading first-choice services, with shares of 17%, 15% and 9%, respectively, Rua Aguete said.

"Platforms like YouTube not only amplify content but also unlock entirely new audiences, while Netflix continues to lead in premium storytelling and engagement," Rua Aguete said.
