Mitsubishi Corp. (TYO:8058) plans to adopt blockchain-based technology from JPMorgan Chase to enable near-instant global fund transfers, with rollout targeted as early as fiscal 2026, Nikkei reported Tuesday.

The trading house has completed test transactions using JPMorgan's Blockchain Deposit Account (BDA) platform, which allows round-the-clock transfers by recording balances on blockchain-based ledgers, according to the report.

Mitsubishi would become the first Japanese company to use the system, already adopted by multinationals such as BMW, Siemens and FedEx, the report said.

The company is also testing cross-border transfers using a yen-based stablecoin being developed by MUFG Bank and partners, the report said.

Mitsubishi said the technology could improve capital efficiency by enabling rapid internal fund allocation, with transfers of up to about $500 million per transaction, compared with conventional transfers that can take hours, according to the report.
