Lipocine shares collapsed Thursday after the biopharmaceutical company's LPCN 1154 drug candidate failed in a late-stage study in postpartum depression.
Shares of the Salt Lake City, Utah, company were recently changing hands at $1.94, down 79%, after touching an all-time low of $1.81 earlier in the session.
Lipocine said LPCN 1154 missed the primary endpoint of the Phase 3 study, failing to show a statistically significant reduction in a key measure of the severity of depression compared with placebo at hour 60.
Lipocine said it plans to preserve capital and evaluate all options available to the company going forward.
