周四，卢比一度上涨1.7%，至1美元兑93.25卢比，创下自2013年9月以来的最大涨幅。卢比现汇市场在休市两天后恢复交易。与此同时，美国总统唐纳德·特朗普暗示伊朗战争可能升级，大多数亚洲地区货币走弱。
印度央行周三晚些时候说，已禁止获授权的外汇交易商向境内或境外客户提供涉及卢比的无本金交割衍生品合约。根据声明，银行仍可提供可交割外汇合约用于对冲，但交易方不得通过在离岸市场建立头寸来对冲这些交易。

在直接干预市场未能阻止卢比跌至历史新低后，央行正试图通过打击一些最常见的做空卢比的交易方式来支撑卢比。交易员通常使用离岸衍生品和套利交易来建立空头头寸。
“这是遏制离岸卢比投机活动的一项更有力措施，”HDFC证券外汇分析师Dilip Parmar表示。
