Perplexity AI is facing a lawsuit alleging that the company shares the personal information of its users with Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) Google and Meta Platforms (META), thereby breaching California privacy laws, Bloomberg News reported Wednesday.
The proposed class-action complaint says that as soon as users log into Perplexity's home page, trackers are downloaded onto their devices, granting Google and Meta complete access to the conversations between them and Perplexity's AI Machine search engine, according to the report.
This allows the two technology giants "to exploit this sensitive date for their own benefit, including targeting individuals with advertising and reselling their sensitive data to additional third parties," Bloomberg reported, citing the complaint.
Google, Meta, and Perplexity didn't immediately reply to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
