TSI Holdings (TYO:3608) said it will carry out a voluntary recall of selected pedal-assisted electric two-wheeled vehicles after identifying compliance and classification issues in products sold since around 2021, according to a Friday filing on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The company said some models may fall under moped classification depending on usage, which could require a driver's license, vehicle registration, and additional regulatory compliance.
It also referred to media reports involving the supplier's representative being referred to prosecutors over alleged fraud and misleading representation, while noting the case has not been prosecuted.
Affected product sales are estimated at about 100 million yen, though the final quantity and value remain under review. TSI Holdings said it expects only a limited financial impact and will offer refunds or repairs as part of the recall program.
