Heidelberg Materials Earnings Hurt by Weather, But Full-Year Implications Limited -- Market Talk

Dow Jones
Apr 08

1211 GMT - Heidelberg Materials' sales and earnings will fall on year in the first quarter, but the results will have limited implications for the German cement group's full-year performance, Bank of America analysts Arnaud Lehmann and Allison Sun write. Poor weather will likely weigh on performance, as will the timing of Ramadan--particularly in North Africa and Indonesia, the analysts write. However, Heidelberg's first-quarter results are typically a relatively small proportion of the group's full-year print because of seasonal factors. As such, its forecasts for 2026 earnings will likely still be met, the analysts say. Heidelberg Materials shares rise 9% as oil prices tumble on a cease-fire agreement between the U.S. and Iran.(josephmichael.stonor@wsj.com)
