英国石油公司在年度股东大会召开前遭遇阻力，代理顾问机构ISS建议股东投票反对该公司修改其气候信息披露方案。
争议的核心在于英国石油计划废止2015年和2019年作出的两项较早期的报告承诺。该公司表示，较新的标准化框架效果更好，并且使整个行业之间的比较更加容易。但ISS并不接受这一论点。该机构称，此举在英国非同寻常，并表示放弃这些披露的理由根本不够充分。
此外，还有更多问题。ISS还反对一项允许英国石油仅以线上方式举行股东大会的提案，提出了更广泛的治理方面的担忧。与此同时，一小部分合计持股比例不足0.3%的欧洲投资者正在加大对该公司气候立场的施压。
