ANZ Raises New Zealand Farmgate Milk Price Forecast

New Zealand's farmgate milk price forecast for 2025-2026 has been bumped up to NZ$9.85 per kilogram of milk solids from NZ$9.50, ANZ Research said in a Wednesday report.

The Global Dairy Trade (GDT) index has risen 22% since the start of 2026, despite prices declining 3.4% at this week's GDT auction.

"For the current 2025/26 season, this means the final milk price will exceed even the most optimistic forecasts offered in recent months," ANZ said.

The market research firm maintained its forecast for 2026-2027 at $8.70 per kilogram of milk solids, saying that strong global milk production should exert downward pressure on prices over the next year.
