西方石油公司在美洲湾Bandit探区获得石油发现。

　　该勘探井位于路易斯安那州海岸以南约125英里的Green Canyon Block 680，钻遇了含油的中新世层段砂岩。

　　西方石油表示，该井在整个储层段发现了高质量碳氢化合物，目前正在进行进一步评估以确定开发方案。

　　该公司作为作业者持有该探区45.375%的工作权益，雪佛龙持有37.125%，伍德赛德能源持有17.5%。

　　合作伙伴们正在评估结果以确定下一步计划，包括可能通过海底回接方式连接到西方石油运营的附近设施。

　　西方石油公司地下技术高级副总裁兼首席石油技术官Jeff Simmons表示：“西方石油致力于加强我们在美洲湾的投资组合。我们相信，这一发现证明了美洲湾作为可靠的国内石油供应战略来源的持续重要性，这有助于支持长期能源安全。”

　　这一发现为美洲湾深水区正在进行的勘探活动增添了新的成果，该地区是美国石油产量的关键产区。
