Amazon-backed (AMZN) Anthropic's latest AI model Claude Mythos has prompted UK financial regulators to assess risks it poses to IT systems, Financial Times reported Sunday, citing people briefed on the matter.

Officials from the Bank of England, Financial Conduct Authority and HM Treasury are holding discussions with the National Cyber Security Centre to evaluate potential vulnerabilities in financial systems, according to the report.

Regulators plan to warn banks, insurers and exchanges about cybersecurity risks linked to Mythos at an industry meeting in the coming weeks, the report said.

The review follows concerns that the model can identify high-severity vulnerabilities across major operating systems and software, raising the risk of exploitation by malicious actors, according to Financial Times.

Bank of England and Financial Conduct Authority declined to comment when reached by MT Newswires, while HM Treasury and National Cyber Security Centre did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
