汇丰控股CEO艾桥智表示，随着投资者正在应对日益动荡的全球情况，中东冲突和更广泛的“不确定性”开始削弱客户的信心。
艾桥智在香港出席汇丰会议期间接受访问时指出，“我们对中东局势感到难过与忧虑，不仅关心当前情况，也担心冲突将持续多久。不幸的是，这些不确定性已开始对整体信心造成压力。”
他警告，若冲突持续，影响恐将超出中东地区，波及全球经济。“我们担心冲突延续将对全球产生影响，不仅是商品、石油与精炼产品价格，还包括化肥与金属等领域。”
总部位于伦敦的汇丰是对中东曝险较高的欧洲银行之一，该地区约占其税前利润的4%。汇丰也持有Saudi Awwal Bank 31%的股份。自冲突爆发以来，一些先前移居该地区的富裕人士已开始评估其他投资重镇，包括新加坡和香港。
尽管面临地缘政治逆风，艾桥智仍保持乐观态度，他表示，该银行在应对新冠疫情期间的各种冲击方面积累的经验，使其能够在局势稳定后迅速调整策略。他还补充说，迄今为止，该银行仅观察到“非常温和的”资本外流。
