1606 ET - Netflix says its goals remain the same after it dropped out of its months-long bidding war for Warner Bros. Discovery, which culminated in a win for Paramount. "No other entertainment company has tried to program at this scale, for this many tastes, cultures, and languages," the company says in a letter to shareholders. "Warner Bros. would have been a nice accelerant for our strategy, but only at the right price." Netflix says it sees several ways to hit its goals, including by producing, licensing and partnering. The company notes that it's operating in a dynamic landscape, with streaming continuing to take share from linear TV and technology allowing for a massive increase in video content from a variety of sources.
