Ericsson Margins Could Face Pressure From Rising Component Prices -- Market Talk

Dow Jones
Apr 17

0654 GMT - Ericsson flagged rising prices of components as AI investments take capacity from the market, which may pressure the margins of network-equipment manufacturers in the future, Inderes's Atte Riikola writes in a note. Nokia is likely to face similar challenges, he says. Ericsson's first-quarter results fell slightly short of consensus, but networks volumes are growing outside of North America, and the market outlook for the full year remains stable, Riikola adds. "The growth of Ericsson's networks unit outside North America is a positive sign and based on this, Nokia's stable development target for this year is on track." On the other hand, challenges related to components increase uncertainty regarding profitability development, he says. (dominic.chopping@wsj.com)
