1248 ET - Toronto stocks are likely to post a solid 1Q, despite geopolitical headwinds and soft domestic growth, according to Scotiabank in a note. With earnings season unofficially beginning next week, the analysts say "we believe there's room for an earnings beat in 1Q." The trend should also continue for the year, with resource sectors leading the charge "lifted by gold stocks' profitability surge." Scotiabank also says TSX EPS may also outperform the S&P 500 for a second consecutive year.(adriano.marchese@wsj.com)
