Sensient Technologies Rises After Boost to Full-Year Outlook

Share of Sensient Technologies climbed after the manufacturer of food and beverage colors increased its full-year earnings outlook.

The stock gained 14%, to $113.19, late Friday morning and is up 20% year to date.

Sensient raised its full-year outlook after its first-quarter results beat Wall Street estimates. The company now expects full-year earnings between $3.70 a share and $3.90 a share. Analysts polled by FactSet are expecting earnings of $3.73 a share.

The company reported a fiscal first quarter profit of $44.2 million, or $1.04 a share, compared with $34.5 million, or 81 cents a share, a year earlier.

Adjusted earnings per share were $1.04. Analysts were expecting 84 cents a share.

Revenue rose 11%, to $435.8 million, above Wall Street's forecast of $411.2 million.
