A number of media outlets hosting after parties for the White House Correspondents' Dinner sent out notices that the parties were continuing as planned.
"We, along with our colleagues and friends across town this evening, will move forward with the event in recognition of the vital role journalists play everyday and especially at times like this," an email from TIME Magazine, which was hosting a party at the Swiss Ambassador's Residence, read.
MS NOW sent out an email saying "our doors are now open for those who are seeking a space to gather and have a bite to eat. While tonight's event won't be what we originally intended, we still think it is important to provide a space for friends and colleagues to be together."
As attendees were still being evacuated from the dinner, NBCUniversal sent out an email with the subject line "TAP (The After Party) Starts Now."
