Caterpillar Continues Leaning on AI Data-Center Boom to Drive Growth -- Market Talk
Dow Jones
Apr 30
0751 ET - Caterpillar built its business on big dump trucks, bulldozers and other mining and construction equipment. But now engines and generators are helping drive the company's growth. Sales across Caterpillar's power and energy division jumps 22% during 1Q. The division has grown quickly, primarily driven by sales of large power-generation sets and turbines that are powering data-center projects amid the artificial-intelligence boom. And that growth isn't expected to slow any time soon. Caterpillar previously said it expects the segment to help accelerate annual sales growth by 5% to 7% through 2030, up from a 4% average in recent years. Caterpillar rises 5.6% premarket.
