A Boeing 747-8 aircraft gifted by Qatar to the US is on track for delivery this summer as a temporary Air Force One, Bloomberg reported on Friday, citing the US Air Force sources.
The jet has completed modifications and flight testing by L3Harris Technologies and is now being painted in a new red, white and blue livery, the Air Force said.
The aircraft is intended as an interim solution until Boeing delivers new Air Force One planes, currently expected around mid-2028 after delays.
The arrangement has drawn scrutiny due to ethical and security concerns over accepting a foreign-provided aircraft, though officials say the plane will be owned by the Defense Department and used temporarily.
