美国波音公司将于4日在芝加哥联邦法院出庭，就一起与2019年埃塞俄比亚航空公司波音737 MAX客机坠机事故有关的民事诉讼应诉。
原告系事故遇难者萨米娅·斯图莫的家属。斯图莫是一名美国籍非政府组织工作人员，2019年3月前往肯尼亚工作时，在上述坠机事故中丧生。2018年10月和2019年3月，印度尼西亚狮子航空公司和埃塞俄比亚航空公司分别发生空难，总计346人丧生，失事飞机均为波音737 MAX客机，且都关联客机的机动特性增强系统的自动防失速软件错误激活。

波音最初面临155起民事诉讼，涉及过失致人死亡等多项指控，但绝大多数诉讼已达成和解。少数进入庭审阶段的案件，包括此次的斯图莫案，不涉及刑事责任的判定，而是确定遇难者家属应获得的经济赔偿金额。
去年11月，芝加哥一个陪审团认定，波音应向埃塞俄比亚航空公司空难中的一名遇难者家属赔偿2845万美元；今年1月开庭审理的另一起案件以庭外和解告终。
