意大利埃尼公司与英国石油公司在尼罗河三角洲地区获得新的天然气发现，该发现通过采用先进定向钻探技术从陆上钻探近海井，预计日产气量约为5000万立方英尺。

　　这口Nidoco N-2探井位于谢赫村省的西阿布马迪地区。据埃及石油与矿产资源部介绍，该井位于距岸约3公里的浅水区，但从陆上使用定向钻探技术进行钻探，旨在降低成本并提高作业效率。

　　埃及石油部长卡里姆·巴达维视察了执行此次作业的EDC-56钻井平台，并表示这一发现以及现有气田产量的增加，反映了该行业在清偿欠外国合作伙伴欠款方面取得的进展。他表示，政府的目标是在6月底前全面结清未付欠款，并补充说，定期付款已鼓励合作伙伴增加钻探、生产与开发活动。

　　该部表示，该井距离现有生产基础设施不到2公里，因此能够在数周内实现快速回接和提前投产。

　　巴达维指出，这一发现展示了如何利用现有基础设施来提高产量并支持国内天然气供应，同时凸显了埃尼在埃及持续的勘探成功。西阿布马迪开发区由埃尼与英国石油公司及埃及通用石油公司通过Petrobel公司运营，Petrobel是EGPC与埃尼的合资企业。
