芯东西5月6日消息，美国德州格莱姆斯县网站发布的公告显示，马斯克的商业航天公司SpaceX计划初步斥资550亿美元（约合人民币3746亿元），在美国德州建造一座“分阶段、采用新一代技术、垂直整合的半导体制造及先进计算制造工厂”。
该项目预计初始阶段的资本投资为550亿美元，如果后续阶段得以完成，预计总投资额可能高达1190亿美元（约合人民币8105亿元）。
公告写道，这将是“对本土半导体制造能力的一项变革性投资”。
这项公告是作为定于6月3日举行的公开听证会的通知。通知称，SpaceX计划使用格莱姆斯县吉本斯溪水库附近的一处房产。
马斯克在今年3月公布了Terafab项目，旨在为AI、机器人、太空业务生产芯片。该项目计划未来支持每年1太瓦的算力，目标是生产2nm芯片。
据外媒4月报道，马斯克的助手们迅速联系了包括美国应用材料、美国泛林集团、日本东京电子等半导体设备巨头，以获取制造半导体所需设备的报价和交货时间。一位知情人士称，马斯克计划以“光速”推进此事。
