Amazon-backed (AMZN) Anthropic is weighing raising tens of billions of dollars this summer to finance an expansion in its computing capacity, implying a valuation of almost $1 trillion for the artificial intelligence company, the Financial Times reported, citing unnamed sources.

Anthropic, valued at $380 billion in February, has been fielding interest from investors including Dragoneer, General Catalyst, and Lightspeed Venture Partners as sales continue to grow, the FT reported, citing five people with knowledge of the matter. Those people expect Anthropic's annualized revenue to exceed $45 billion imminently, a five-fold surge from the end of last year.

"People are ready to throw any dollar amount at Anthropic," one investor in the company, which owns AI model Claude, told the FT. "It's just about when [Anthropic] want to pop their heads up and say 'we're ready'."

Anthropic did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
