Live Nation Entertainment is on deck to report earnings following last month's landmark monopoly ruling.
Ticketmaster's parent company is scheduled to report first-quarter financial results after the stock market closes Tuesday. Analysts surveyed by FactSet expect the company to post revenue of $3.57 billion, which would be above the revenue of $3.38 billion in the same period last year.
Revenue from concerts is expected to be $2.63 billion, while ticketing revenue is estimated to be $709 million.
Live Nation owns and controls bookings for hundreds of venues, and its subsidiary Ticketmaster is a global online ticket selling platform. The company has faced backlash from some consumers and lawmakers who allege its dominance in the ticket-selling space has led to a lack of choice and rising ticket prices for purchasers.
CEO Michael Rapino has said in the past that the company has "never relied on exclusivity to drive our ticketing business."
In April, a Manhattan federal jury found Live Nation and Ticketmaster held a monopoly over live event ticket sales. Live Nation responded to the ruling in a statement that said, "The jury's verdict is not the last word on this matter. Pending motions will determine whether the liability and damages rulings stand."
Wall Street is now awaiting the judge to rule on what remedies Live Nation will have to take to mitigate monopoly concerns. The worst-case scenario for the company would be if the judge forces the sale of Ticketmaster. But Wolfe Research analyst Peter Supino doesn't see that happening, noting that Live Nation settled an antitrust suit with the Justice Department in March. The settlement allowed Live Nation to keep Ticketmaster.
"A forced divestiture of Ticketmaster remains very unlikely," Supino wrote last month.
Investors will also be looking for signals from the company that demand for live events continues to be strong, especially as concerns around consumer spending grow. Inflation remains sticky, interest rates are still high, and gas prices have surged amid the continuing war in Iran.
Shares of Live Nation were up 0.4% to $158.14 on Tuesday.
