Microsoft (MSFT) is the subject of a strategic market status inquiry into its business software ecosystem, the CMA said Thursday.
The investigation assesses whether the company uses bundling and default settings to prevent customers from switching, limiting choices, the CMA said.
Officials will examine the supply of productivity tools, server operating systems, and security software to UK organizations, the regulator said.
A decision on the designation is scheduled for February 2027 following a nine-month review, and the inquiry will also cover how software licensing affects cloud competition, the CMA added.
