Samsung Electronics Joins EU's Code of Conduct for Energy Smart Appliances; Shares Jump 4%

Samsung Electronics (KRX:005930) joined the European Union's Code of Conduct for Energy Smart Appliances, which is a voluntary agreement program promoting energy-efficient smart devices, the technology firm said Thursday.

The initiative, led by the European Commission's research arm, aims to improve energy management by combining appliances with power systems, the release said.

Shares of Samsung Electronics rose more than 4% in recent trade.
