Mass Market Cruises See New Bookings Dented by Hantavirus -- Market Talk

1541 ET - Mass market cruises are seeing a cooling effect from headlines about hantavirus cases onboard, Truist analysts say. Booking volumes at Carnival, Norwegian Cruise Line and Royal Caribbean have faced modest pressure due to the negative rhetoric around hantavirus, the analysts say. The analysts expect the impact over the past three weeks will bring Carnival and Royal Caribbean's third- and fourth-quarter results closer to the midpoints of their outlooks, rather than the high ends. While new bookings have been dented, cancellations haven't ticked up, which will help minimize the damage to full-year results, the analysts say. (katherine.hamilton@wsj.com)
