Shares of Unusual Machines surged after The Wall Street Journal reported that the Trump administration is in talks to fund the drone component supplier, citing people familiar with the matter.
Shares were up 38% to $26.02 in premarket trading Thursday. The stock closed Wednesday up 9% at $18.83, having gained 48% this year.
The company is among a group of drone companies with whom the administration is pursuing funding deals as part of a push to boost domestic drone production, the Journal reported Wednesday evening. Those deals are still in the negotiation phase, according to the report.
President Trump's son, Donald Trump Jr., is an Unusual Machines shareholder and member of its advisory board, according to the Journal.
A Defense Department official declined to comment on "pre-decisional matters that remain subject to change," the Journal reported.
