Kyivstar Group (KYIV) subsidiary Uklon launched Ukraine's first live testing of autonomous-vehicle and remote-driving technology in partnership with Boryspil International Airport.

The pilot program introduces remote human-operated driving systems using onboard sensors, LiDAR, real-time connectivity and vehicle telemetry "as a transitional control layer on the path toward higher levels of vehicle autonomy," Kyivstar said Wednesday in a statement.

The initiative will test autonomous mobility in real-world conditions while supporting development of Ukraine's regulatory framework for driverless transport systems, the company said.

Kyivstar is part of VEON (VEON).

Kyivstar shares fell 0.5% in Wednesday trading, and VEON eased 0.1%.
