1036 ET - Best Buy anticipates that the average selling prices will rise for some products, especially computers, as a result of a memory shortage that is driving up costs for many tech companies. "We did see some staggered price increases in Q1. As we move into Q2, we do expect ASPs to increase, and units from an elasticity perspective to be impacted," incoming CEO Jason Bonfig said on a call with reporters. "We continue to work very closely with our vendors to mitigate this." Rising memory costs aren't resonating as much with consumers, who typically have a set budget for their purchases and look for products within that range. "They don't walk into our store with fear about memory prices, and we're not seeing any indication that they're pulling core purchases as a result of it," Bonfig said. (elias.schisgall@wsj.com)
