At least seven Chinese universities with links to the country's military are looking to gain access to Nvidia's H200 chips, Bloomberg reported Monday, citing a review of procurement records.

Among the schools that are seeking to rent the sophisticated chips are Beihang University and Northwestern Polytechnical University, the report said.

The two schools are part of China's "Seven Sons of National Defense," and both are blacklisted by the U.S. Commerce Department for their role in aiding the People's Liberation Army, Bloomberg said.

Bloomberg also identified more than 25 Chinese universities and labs that are working with the PLA to obtain older-generation Nvidia chips, according to the news outlet.
