Duke Energy Secures Up to $61.8 Million US Department of Energy Grant for Coal Plants

Duke Energy (DUK) said Friday it has secured an up to $61.8 million grant from the US Department of Energy to support critical upgrades for its coal-fired power plants in Kentucky and North Carolina.
The company said that up to $33.4 million of the funding will be used for its East Bend Station in Kentucky, while the remaining $28.4 million will be directed to its Roxboro Station units 2 and 3 in North Carolina.
