Aeva Technologies (AEVA) said Wednesday the city of Fargo, North Dakota, has chosen its CityOS AI traffic intelligence platform for use at multiple intersections.

The company said the system uses lidar sensors and AI software to monitor vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists and other road users in real time, helping improve traffic flow and road safety.

Fargo plans to use the technology to improve visibility and decision-making in all weather conditions, including snow, fog, and low-light environments that can challenge traditional traffic cameras, the company said.

Aeva said the platform can detect and track road users continuously and generate data for traffic management, safety monitoring, and intersection performance analysis regardless of weather.

Shares of Aeva were down more than 5% in premarket activity Wednesday.
