IT之家 6 月 14 日消息，据外媒 New Atlas 昨天报道，美国 NASA 正加速建设月球南极永久基地，根据设想，NASA 未来的月球基地将覆盖数百平方英里范围。
目前，NASA 已选定新一代月球车“飞马（IT之家注：Pegasus）”，未来将与阿尔忒弥斯首批宇航员一起飞往月球。
据悉，“飞马”由美国航天公司 Lunar Outpost 开发，具备自动驾驶、宇航员驾驶和地球远程操控三种模式，该公司联合创始人 AJ Gemer 表示：“飞马将以前所未有的方式，延长人类在月球表面活动的时间，这是阿波罗时代无法实现的事情”。
NASA 当前密切关切月球南极，因为那里终日不见阳光，存在着巨大的阴影陨石坑，保存着丰富的水冰。如果人类能妥善开发这些资源，未来的月球基地将可以利用水冰生产饮用水、制造氧气及制备火箭燃料。
不过，月球南极表面的环境极其严峻。陨石坑内的温度可低至零下 246 摄氏度，阳光照射的表面则可能达到 121 摄氏度，温差接近 367 度，可以说是太阳系最极端的环境之一。
为了应对这种极端环境，“飞马”配备了自主热管理系统，即使宇航员亲自驾驶车辆，热控系统仍会自动运行。
