Snap's Specs Not Positioned for Mainstream Appeal -- Market Talk

Dow Jones
Jun 17

1156 ET - Snap's first AR glasses, Specs, were unveiled at a cheaper price point than expected but still don't screen as a mainstream smart-glasses product, Benchmark analysts Mark Zgutowicz and Alex Lavigne say in a research note. Their $2,195 price is less than the $2,500 mark that the analysts had estimated, but still high enough to come across as a premium and early-adopter product, the analysts say. The hardware looks to outpace standard AI glasses on the market right now, but the glasses are also twice as heavy, three times more expensive and have a shorter battery life than their competitors, the analysts say. Shares fall 4.4% to $4.93. (dean.seal@wsj.com)
