Centurion Corp.'s Housing Deal Seems More Strategic Than Earnings Accretive -- Market Talk

0242 GMT - Centurion Corp.'s move to buy a 25% stake in a purpose-built student accommodation in Perth appears more strategic than earnings-accretive, says DBS Group Research's Jia Hui Ng in a note. The stake size implies limited near-term boost to its financial results. However, the prime location of the accommodation adjacent to a university and its fully-integrated student living environment is likely to boost Centurion's long-term portfolio quality, she adds. The asset could form part of the Singapore accommodation operator's pipeline of properties that it could inject into its related real estate investment trust, Centurion Accommodation REIT, the analyst says. DBS maintains its buy rating and target price of 1.86 Singapore dollars on Centurion Corp. Shares are 0.7% lower at S$1.50. (megan.cheah@wsj.com)
