英国汽车制造商与贸易商协会（SMMT）表示，由于对美国出口的增加，英国5月汽车产量同比增长2.7%，结束了此前连续四个月的下滑。不过，该行业机构警告称，高能源成本、贸易风险以及电动车需求疲软仍在持续威胁行业竞争力。SMMT首席执行官迈克·霍斯表示：“制造商在零排放技术上投入数十亿英镑，但疲弱的基础需求以及合规成本不断上升，正使竞争力、就业和未来投资面临风险。”数据显示，5月英国汽车总产量升至51178辆，其中乘用车产量同比增长3.2%至49249辆，而商用车产量同比下降7.6%至1929辆。对美国的汽车出口上月大幅增长83.1%，但对欧盟和中国的出口分别下降5.2%和14.3%。今年前五个月，英国汽车总产量同比下降8.7%至317779辆。
