WidePoint's shares surged ahead of the opening bell after the company was handed a contract worth up to almost $3.1 billion to provide wireless managed services to the Department of Homeland Security.
In premarket trading, the shares were 52% higher at $26.92, building on sharp gains so far in 2026.
WidePoint said Thursday it was selected as the single awardee of Homeland Security's cellular wireless managed services 3.0 contract, a pact that consists of a one-year base period and nine one-year option periods.
The will deliver and manage an integrated portfolio of solutions that support lifecycle management, connectivity, security, and operational requirements for the department. Cellular wireless managed services 3.0 aims will allow for the delivery of services including device security, artificial intelligence-driven data intelligence, and mission-tailored networking solutions that support the continued expansion of mobile workforces across Homeland Security, the company said.
Chief Revenue Officer Jason Holloway said the contract establishes a strong foundation for WidePoint to further expand its role in managing secure communications and mobility services across the federal government.
