路透约翰内斯堡7月3日 - 中国奇瑞汽车 9973.HK 于周五根据今年1月宣布的协议，正式接管了日产位于南非罗斯林的汽车制造厂。公司高管表示，在计划于2027年年中启动生产之前，奇瑞将投入资金用于工厂升级和新增设备。
奇瑞在声明中表示，希望将南非打造为其在非洲的制造、出口、研发及区域运营中心。
作为中国最大的汽车出口商，奇瑞承诺保留工厂现有的692名员工。公司一位副总裁表示，该项目将在制造、供应链及相关服务领域创造近3,000个直接和间接就业岗位。
该高管向记者表示，奇瑞将投资数百万美元用于升级工厂设施和公用工程系统，但未透露具体金额。公司预计在2027年第三和第四季度的产能爬坡阶段生产约15,000辆汽车。
