Caterpillar (CAT) said Thursday it started a workforce investment program in Texas with an initial allocation of up to $5 million.

The funding is part of a five-year, $100 million plan to prepare personnel for advanced manufacturing and industry technician roles, the company said.

The company will collaborate with Texas State Technical College, the Manufacturing Institute, and local economic organizations to lower training barriers and link students to industrial careers, Caterpillar said.
