追踪小型公司股票的罗素2000指数在今年前六个月攀升了约22%。这是该指数自1991年以来的最佳上半年表现，跑赢纳斯达克综合指数约9个百分点，创下2006年以来同期的最大领先优势。就在上周，该指数一度连续四个交易日刷新历史收盘纪录。
多年来，市场一直由有着万亿美元市值的AI巨头主导，小盘股则是其中常被忽视的一抹亮色。一些投资者视此为一种迹象，表明近期主要局限于英特尔（Intel）或美光科技等大型芯片公司的股市涨势，终于开始向市场的其他角落蔓延。
“投资者正退一步思考‘下一波超额收益可能来自哪里？’”Easterly Snow首席投资官约书亚．沙克特（Joshua Schachter）说。他在这里用了一个交易术语来指代跑赢市场基准的回报。“市场错失了许多估值极具吸引力且值得关注的投资标的。”
这也是Schachter最近部分获利了结的原因之一。他卖出了半导体股票和其他AI概念股，随后将资金轮动到医疗健康、工业以及非必需消费品板块。至于芯片制造商？“它们是优秀的公司，”他说，“但股票估值实在太高了。”
