Fiserv (FISV) has held talks with JPMorgan Chase (JPM), Bank of America (BAC), Wells Fargo (WFC) and PNC Financial Services (PNC) about a potential sale of its STAR Network debit payments business, Reuters reported Monday, citing an unnamed source familiar with the matter.
No deal is certain and the talks could still fall apart, according to the report.
Some potential buyers have stepped back over concerns that a deal could face opposition from lawmakers, regulators and merchants, the report said.
Fiserv did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
The company's shares were up more than 7% in Tuesday's premarket trading.
