South32 (ASX:S32) is set to gain US government approval for its proposed $2 billion Arizona zinc and manganese mine on Tuesday, Bloomberg reported the same day, citing a statement from the Agriculture Department's US Forest Service.

The mine is gaining authorization two months before a federal environment law deadline under a fast-track permitting process, and the company plans for it to achieve full production by 2029, according to the report.

The US Forest Service did not immediately respond to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
