美国总统特朗普表示，沃尔玛应政府要求同意下调部分商品价格，并敦促其他零售商效仿，称此举将惠及美国消费者。
特朗普周一在社交媒体发文称：“我刚刚获悉，美国规模最大、最优秀、最聪明的零售商之一沃尔玛，将应本届政府要求大幅降价，以庆祝美国建国250周年。”
特朗普表示，沃尔玛“将把一磅牛绞肉的价格下调近15%，此外还有许多其他商品”，并称这对“数百万精明地选择”在沃尔玛购物的美国消费者来说“是个重大利好”。
他还表示：“沃尔玛迈出了重大且大胆的一步，其他零售商应当效仿这些真正的爱国者。”
在特朗普发文后，沃尔玛发布声明称，旗下沃尔玛超市和山姆会员商店的顾客“可以期待在食品杂货、家庭必备品、户外生活用品、玩具和服装上享受优惠，家庭最依赖的日常必需品和当季热门商品的价格会更低”。
沃尔玛股价在纽约盘后交易中下跌不到1%。
