路透7月10日 - 法庭文件显示，AT&T T.N 已同意支付1.841亿美元，以了结一起指控这家电信公司克扣约30万名现任及前任员工养老金的诉讼。
这项拟议集体诉讼的初步和解协议已于周四提交至旧金山联邦法院，尚需法官批准。
AT&T被指控违反了1974年《联邦雇员退休收入保障法》（ERISA），因其未能向已婚员工提供与单身员工“精算等值”的养老金。
员工称，这家总部位于达拉斯的公司使用过时数十年的人口死亡率数据来计算养老金，导致已婚员工获得的养老金较少。
根据和解文件，员工将获得1.491亿美元的额外养老金福利，其中1.135亿美元分配给退休员工，3560万美元分配给在职员工。其律师可能寻求最高3500万美元用于支付律师费和诉讼费用。
该诉讼始于2020年10月。
AT&T在同意和解时否认存在不当行为。AT&T在一份声明中表示，和解是为了避免长期诉讼带来的费用和干扰，并承诺在管理其养老金福利计划时遵守法律。
