在霍尔木兹海峡再次发生袭击事件后，美伊两国谈判破裂，美国加大了对伊朗的经济制裁力度，并恢复了对伊朗的军事封锁。
美国财政部周二宣布对侯赛因·沙姆哈尼的航运网络实施新的制裁。沙姆哈尼是伊朗一位行事隐秘的商业帝国领导人，美方指称该企业为德黑兰和莫斯科处理具有战略意义的石油和武器交易。财政部制裁了50多个实体，包括航运公司、船舶、电子钱包和个人。
美国财政部长斯科特·贝森特在社交媒体上发帖表示，美国还制裁了多个据称与伊朗中央银行有关联的数字资产钱包，冻结了超过1.3亿美元的资金。
这些举措出台，正值美国在总统唐纳德·特朗普对往返伊朗港口或沿海地区的船只恢复实施封锁。美国中央司令部表示，于纽约时间周二下午4时恢复了海上封锁。
贝森特在声明中表示：“财政部正在关闭使该政权能够继续威胁美国国家安全和全球航运的金融基础设施。”
此前特朗普和伊朗总统马苏德·佩泽希齐扬在6月17日签署了临时和平协议，但围绕对霍尔木兹海峡控制权的紧张局势导致谈判中止，伊朗和美国恢复了互相袭击，白宫进而对伊朗加大军事和经济施压。
